Dear East End Neighbors–
Thanks to many of you who participated in our community meeting last Wednesday, June 27th, primarily focused on the development of an Emergency Preparedness and Response Plan for the East End so we’re more effectively able to respond as a community to natural disasters. You can view a presentation here outlining the topics discussed at the meeting, the previously circulated draft plan here, and meeting notes here summarizing comments and suggestions made by meeting participants to improve the plan. All suggestions made at the meeting specifically will be considered by the EENA Board before the plan is finalized.A special thanks to Ojai Police Chief, Jim Fryhoff, and VC Fire West Division Chief, John McNeil, for participating in the meeting and offering their expert perspectives and advice for developing an effective community emergency plan.
During the last part of the meeting, attendees broke into their neighborhood circles to begin identifying possible Neighborhood Captains and other volunteers to help finalize a written emergency plan for their neighborhood and to team up to carry out their plan in the event of an emergency. Some neighborhood circles were larger than others and many volunteers stepped up, but numerous additional Neighborhood Captains and volunteers still need to be identified for each of our nine East End neighborhoods to develop and staff an effective neighborhood emergency plan.
If you haven’t already, consider volunteering for this worthwhile initiative. Your degree of involvement can be flexible based on your availability and desired level of engagement. If you’re interested in volunteering or have any thoughts or questions regarding the East End Neighborhood Association, please reach out to George Gaines at gcgainesjr@gmail.com.
Thank you for your interest in our East End community and have a great 4th of July holiday.
